The Private Compliance Inspector (PCI) School is designed to equip professionals with the necessary education, training to become certified to conduct compliance inspections of on-site wastewater systems during the installation or repair.
The dates and times of the class are as follows with a 1 hour lunch break each day.
Attendees should dress appropriately and be prepared for a large portion of the class to take place outside.
Monday, September 21, 2026 through Thursday, September 24th - 8:00am to 5:00pm
Friday, September 25th - 8:00am to 12:00pm
The role of a Private Compliance Inspector (PCI) is to verify and inspect wastewater systems for compliance with permits issued by an Authorized Onsite Wastewater Evaluator (AOWE) or Engineer (PE).

Initial Requirements:
Anyone may take the class, however, applicants for the PCI certification must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as one of the following:
- Certified Onsite Wastewater Contractor
- Authorized Onsite Wastewater Evaluator
- Subsurface Operator
- Registered Environmental Health Specialist.
Applicants shall not be employed by a local health department. (LHD employees may complete the class but cannot become PCI's while employed by a Local Health Department (See § 90A-77)
Continuing Education Requirements:
To maintain PCI certification, professionals are required to complete 12 Hours of Continuing Education (CE) annually.
