Digging the Data: MPs, Councillors, and Elections
Tue 1 Oct 2024 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Digital Gurus (Floor 3) 19 Spring Gardens, Manchester, M2 1FB
Description
The July election brought big changes across the UK, as did they local elections before them in May. But what data is there about our political representatives, and what can this data show us?
This event is a chance for you to take a look at what data is out there, uncover ways it could be used, and explore ways of telling stories about the data. We will share some data we have found, including datasets we have pulled together showing the relationship between levels of deprivation and the party of Councillors elected across England. We will also signpost some of the tools and visualisations that exist to help explore the data out there. Then we’ll create space to help you explore this yourself, with a team on hand to help out.
If you are interested in what this data can tell us, we’d love you to join us. You don’t need data skills to take part – this is a relaxed event for people who already work with data and for people who just want to find out more. It’s also a great chance to meet other people interested in data and how to use it better. We look forward to meeting you.
(Please note the date of this event has changed from what was earlier advertised. It is now happening on Tuesday 1st October.)
The entrance you need is shown below. There will be someone there to welcome you. In order to explore the data, we recommend that you bring a device with you, although this isn't neccessary.
