DJN North - everyone is North of somewhere

Design Justice Network is an international community of people who are interested in and affected by design and its application. It challenges the ways that design and designers can harm those who are marginalised through creating systems of power, and tries to create a world that is safer, more just and sustainable. The network is underpinned by nodes of practitioners and advocates who uphold the principles of design justice.

Since our formation as the Design Justice Node for the North of England in early 2022, we've grown into a vibrant community of practitioners and advocates from the UK and internationally.

April Design Justice in Practice
Following on from our discussions in February, this is the first session where practitioners in the network share their insight and experience of how Design Justice Principles interact with their practice.

To kick things off we will be sharing how Open Data Manchester's practice is informed by the principles and how we try and use them to guide our work in understanding, developing and communicating how digital and data systems affect our lives.

Whether you're a regular participant or completely new to Design Justice Network, this session is designed to be welcoming and accessible to all.

Important information: This event will take place online via Whereby (no log-ins and no need to download an app). • Prioritise authentic and respectful relationships, active listening and refraining from personal or disparaging comments.
• We commit to accountability and repair when there is harm and relational rupture in the space.
