How data can conflate and confuse

Building on a talk from May's Show and Tell event, September's session takes a longer look at how data can, in good faith and bad, obscure more than it reveals, or sacrifice meaning for the sake of simplicity.

We will be hearing from two speakers who are keen to highlight where data misunderstandings and misrepresentations persist, and the problems this can cause. Our first confirmed speaker is Jenny Andrew who works at the Prospect trade union and deals with labour market data.

Important information: This event will take place online via Zoom. We will send out a link to join the session on the morning of the event and 30 minutes before the start time.

Who is the LCR Data Community of Practice?

We are a group of people from across the region's data ecosystem that work in or are interested in working with data. We have quarterly in-person meet-ups around lunchtime with online events in between. Our events are informal, welcoming and free.

For any questions about this event, please contact Dr Kirsty Styles: kirsty@lcrdcp.org

This event is organised by Open Data Manchester CIC in partnership with the Civic Health Innovation Labs at the University of Liverpool.
