ITADATAhack 2024 (II Edition)

CINI Data Science Lab hackathon

Welcome to the registration process for ITADATAHack 2024, a hackathon aimed at Italian university students, now in its second edition.

Event Details

After the first edition in Naples in September 2023, this year’s event will take place from August 30 to September 1, 2024. The theme will be a challenge involving a private corporate database focused on financial data. The best teams will have the opportunity to present their solutions at “ITADATA 2024” in Pisa.

Participation

Participation is open to teams of three students from Italian universities. Individual participants can also register and will receive support to form a team, though it is not guaranteed. Support will be provided via the Open Data Playground Discord server

For this competition, you will have access to an HPC4AI environment provided by the University of Turin. This will enable you to carry out your project from data integration and cleaning to visualization.

Submissions

Submissions will be made on a dedicated Palantir Foundry platform where you can upload your solutions and check your team’s ranking in real-time.

Registration

The number of teams is limited to 50, so take advantage of this opportunity. Participation is completely free. We strongly encourage all participants to complete their registration on Ticket Tailor as soon as possible.

Steps to Register:

1. Check Requirements:

   1. Be a university student at an Italian university.

   2. Be able to work in a team of three people.

   3. Specify the name of your team in the check-out form.

   4. Deadlines: August 28, 2024, at 00:00: Registration closes.

2. Online Registration:

   1. Visit the official event page: https://journal.opendataplayground.com/itadatahack-2024/

   2. Click on “Register”: You will be redirected to the dedicated Ticket Tailor page.

   3. Complete the registration process on Ticket Tailor: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/opendataplayground/1196718

   4. Each team member must complete the registration on Ticket Tailor, Discord, and Palantir individually.

3. Activate Your Profile on HPC4AI Torino:

   1. You will receive an email invitation to activate your profile on Palantir Foundry. Remember to check your SPAM folder.

   2. Follow the instructions in the email to create your personal profile on Palantir Foundry using Microsoft’s authentication system.

   3. After creating your profile, log in to the Palantir Support Discord Channel and open a ticket to inform support of your profile creation. This step is mandatory to activate access to your team’s personal folder and instructions for the hackathon.

4. Participation in Preparatory Courses:

   1. It is highly recommended to participate in the online courses offered to prepare for the hackathon:

   2. Fastweb Digital Academy: Access soft skills courses through the Fastweb Digital Academy.

5. Participation in the Event:

   1. The hackathon will take place online from August 30 (00:00) to September 1, 2024. Ensure you have a stable internet connection and access the event platform on the specified dates and times.

   2. At 00:00 AM on August 30, you will be able to access your team’s private folder in the HPC4AI environment and the folder containing files and instructions for the hackathon in Palantir Foundry.

6. Evaluation and Awards:

   1. The results will be evaluated from September 2 to September 5 by a qualified jury. Finalists will be invited to a final event on September 18, 2024, in Pisa during ITADATA 2024. Participation in the final can also be done remotely via online streaming.
