Hack4Future – Hack the Climate Change - Sicily: When the Future Meets the Climate

Sicily once again becomes the stage for an unprecedented challenge: Hack4Future – Hack the Climate Change - Sicily, a hackathon dedicated to imagining and building solutions to address the increasingly unpredictable effects of climate change.

Organized by Open Data Playground, in collaboration with the Universities of Messina, Catania, and Palermo, as well as the CINI Data Science Laboratory, this event is designed for university students ready to dive into data and ideas with a single goal: to create practical tools for the territory from the perspective of those who live it every day.

The hackathon will take place online from May 3 to May 12, 2025. On May 22, the finalist teams will gather in person to present their projects to a panel of judges and an audience of experts and institutions, culminating in the initiative’s final awards ceremony.

Participants, organized in teams of two, will be tasked with solving a real-world problem, such as optimizing the region's hydrogeological system to manage future challenges, from droughts to floods. All of this will be achieved using Palantir Foundry, a platform that transforms data into actionable insights.
