DA Only - Grief Gratitude and Courage Mini-Retreat

Multiple dates and times

Online, Zoom

Description

9am - 12 pm PST, 12pm-3pm EST, 5pm-8pm BST, 6pm-9pm CEST. You may sign up for more than one session; however each session has a similar format.

This is a DA ONLY session of Grief Gratitude and Courage.  Participants accept the likelihood of near term societal collapse due to climate disruption.

A chance to grieve together and bear witness to the losses we face due to disruptions, either personal or systemic (collapse, pandemic, economic, political, human rights...) GGC is not designed to address recent personal bereavement. GGC is for anyone who wants to show up fully in this time of loss, to find the gifts that come from facing grief in community. It is in the spirit of The Work that Reconnects. No reports or recommendations for action-- this is space for personal reflection and sharing, and mutual support.

“ I was most worried that it would be really depressing the whole way through, and afterward I’d be a pile of tears, and feeling helpless. But instead I found it really refreshing and uplifting.” –- a participant

Three hours (or less with a small group) with a break, interactive and engaging, includes reflection, writing, and small group sharing. We will pass through three movements of grief, gratitude and courage together. Be yourself, name your fears and losses. We grieve so that we can honor what we love, and we are not meant to grieve alone. Through sharing, healing words, and a bit of ritual, find renewal, connection, and strength.

Questions? Check the website or email terry@opendoorcommunication.org. Not able to attend this session?  Check for other events, or sign up for the email news to hear about future events.

Facilitated by:

Terry LePage creates spaces for connection, healing, insight, and inspiration. With a PhD in chemistry and a Masters of Divinity, she combines heart and head in teaching and facilitation. She has worked as a transitional minister and hospice chaplain. She lives in Southern California and is currently supporting worker and immigrant rights and leading groups for Nonviolent Communication, Way of Council, Grief Gratitude and Courage (for grief other than personal bereavement), and Waking Up and Staying Awake (to racism and injustice). She finds inspiration in the wild lands of coastal California and in her native garden.

Margo Finlayson is a full-time activist and mentor to young people with the Climate Reality Project, and a balcony vegetable gardener.  She was recently evacuated twice due to wildfires near her Southern California home.

Should you fear that with this pain your heart might break, remember that the heart that breaks open can hold the whole universe. Your heart is that large. Trust it. Keep breathing.
