Clinical Approach to Cardiovascular Autonomic Neuropathy — Prof. Lynn Ang
Diabetic Gastroenteropathy: Diagnosis and Management — Prof. Christina Brock
Abstract:
Diabetic autonomic neuropathy is one of the most common complications of diabetes. It is also one of the most often overlooked, even though it carries a major burden of morbidity, impaired quality of life, and increased mortality. Its manifestations can involve virtually every organ system, yet symptoms are often subtle, nonspecific, or attributed to other causes, so diagnosis is frequently delayed.
In this webinar, organised by the Neurodiab Youth Committee, two leading international experts offer a practical, clinically oriented update on its two most relevant forms. Prof. Lynn Ang will present the clinical approach to cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN), from screening and cardiovascular reflex testing to prognostic implications and management. Prof. Christina Brock will discuss diabetic gastroenteropathy, covering the spectrum of gastrointestinal dysfunction, current diagnostic tools, and available treatment options.
The session is designed for early-career and established clinicians and researchers in diabetology, endocrinology, neurology, cardiology, and gastroenterology who want to bring evidence-based assessment of autonomic neuropathy into routine practice.
Learning objectives:
- Recognise the clinical spectrum and prognostic impact of diabetic autonomic neuropathy.
- Apply the recommended diagnostic approach to cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy.
- Identify and diagnose diabetic gastroenteropathy.
- Outline current management strategies for both conditions.
