A Celebration of the Plasticine Era and What May Come Next
Bring YOUR fun thing to Trashlantis!
Trashlanteans live in the Neopelagic zone beneath vast floating rafts of durable and buoyant plastic in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. They've built a thriving civilization using our cast-offs. What can we learn from them? How do we shift from an extractive economic model to a circular, restorative set of solutions?
Trashlantis is an active-transportation eco-festival and bike ride through the streets and trails of Sebastopol.
Inspired by the Kinetic Grand Championship, our community festival is a free and FUN event that explores ways to create and celebrate without a reliance on fossil fuels. Our festival is powered by renewable and people power!
The event features bands on two stages, including our local favorite, Sakoyana as well as ridable whimcycles, local arts and crafts vendors, up-cycled goods, community groups, and a trash-fashion show. The main event is a costumed/themed bike and kinetic sculpture rally that traverses the town and it's natural features, underground and otherwise.
