Supporting Neurodivergent Colleagues
Thursday 5 November 9:30am - 12.00pm
Location: UHI Orkney
Delivered by Nelly Whaley, Training Manager from Mindroom.
In response to feedback form local employers who are keen to learn more about supporting neurodivergent colleagues. The Local Employability Partnership (LEP) are delighted to bring this practical and informative training to Orkney.
Neurodivergence refers to the natural variation in how people think, learn, process information and experience the world. It can include people with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette syndrome and other cognitive differences. By understanding and embracing neurodiversity, workplaces can unlock valuable skills, perspectives and talents while creating more inclusive and supportive environments for all employees.
This training is designed for managers and leaders who want to build confidence in supporting neurodivergent employees and creating inclusive workplace environments. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of common neurotypes, explore reasonable adjustments in practice, and learn how to approach disclosures and workplace conversations with sensitivity and confidence.
Topics will include:
- Understanding common neurotypes and how they may present in workplace settings
- Creating psychologically safe and neuroinclusive teams
- Identifying and implementing reasonable adjustments
- Supporting disclosures and inclusive conversations
- Practical strategies for sustaining a neuroinclusive workplace culture
The session will provide opportunities for discussion, reflection and application of learning to your workplace situations.
Whether you're looking to strengthen your leadership skills, improve employee wellbeing, or create a workplace where everyone can thrive, this session will provide practical tools and insights that you can put into practice.
