George Balanchine is credited with shaping contemporary ballet in the US. The evolution of his artistry is depicted in three ballets. Set to music by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Diamonds illustrates Balanchine's classical roots and Serenade captures emotional depths and groundbreaking innovation. The third ballet is Stars and Stripes, a joyful tribute to the American spirit, set to the music of John Philip Sousa.
