Our COA Journey presents - The Gala 2027
The Gala is BACK for 2027!
After the success of the Nacoa Northern Gala in 2023, 2024 & 2025, we took a much-needed break to realign and decide how future galas could look and how they could support causes close to our hearts.
2027 will bring back the energy, the visibility and the commitment to 2 Charities that are doing so much, for so many of our country's young people.
The National Association for Children of Alcoholics was founded in 1990 to address the needs of children growing up in families where one or both parents suffer from alcoholism or a similar addictive problem. This includes children of all ages, many of whose problems only become apparent in adulthood. A big one for us, as growing up we know we could have benefited from understanding that we were not alone, 1 in 5 children live in this way.

Once Upon a Smile is a children’s bereavement charity providing practical and emotional support to bereaved families to enable them to adjust to a new life without their loved one. Based in Sidley House, Trafford, Greater Manchester. A dedicated children’s bereavement centre with ten dedicated support rooms offers a bright, colourful, safe space for children and young people to express their emotions, thoughts and feelings and opportunities to remember their loved ones. In the aftermath of losing our dad, OUAS were supportive in helping both Jess and her children adapt and talk about exactly how they were feeling, a service not available typically for a child of an alcoholic, once the parent passes any state support ceases and the child is left to deal with this, often alone.
