This practical session helps practitioners recognise, understand and safely respond to controlling behaviours in young people and adults. Through real‑world examples and reflective discussion, participants explore how controlling behaviours can develop, the role of social media narratives and how these behaviours show up in relationships and peer groups, and what effective, trauma‑aware intervention looks like.
By the end of the session, participants will:
- Understand the patterns, motivations and impacts behind controlling behaviours.
- Feel confident identifying early warning signs in school, community or family settings.
- Know how to challenge controlling behaviours safely, calmly and professionally.
- Strengthen their ability to support young people to build healthier, more respectful relationships.
