Pig Pampering

Come along to give our pigs a pampering afternoon! 

Pigs are naturally curious animals that explore by rooting, biting, chewing and sniffing food and other items. You might think that pigs are a bit smelly, but this is a misconception! It stems from their need to wallow in mud in order to stay cool, as they do not sweat.

At the farm, we place great importance on providing fun, enriching activities for our animals, to keep them happy and curious, encourage play and reduce stress.

In this pampering session we will:

• Make a snuffle box for Truffle and Judy, filled with straw and vegetable treats for them to play with and enjoy

• Place different herbs and spices around their enclosure to encourage them to explore and sniff them out

• Use the hose to give them a shower

• Wet the soil so they can have a mud bath

• Give them some belly scratches!

All children age 5+ are welcome to take part (if your child is under 5, they will need parental supervision and you will need to book two tickets).
This session lasts approximately an hour and is supervised by a member of farm staff.

*Please be aware that visiting Ouseburn Farm and coming into contact with animals comes with some potential risk. To ensure this risk is minimised, always thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water after visiting the farm and/or before you eat or drink anything. Never eat or drink anything whilst on the farmyard. If you are supervising children or vulnerable adults at the farm please ensure they also follow these rules.
