Welcome to ACTprep.com
At ACTprep.com, we don’t just help students improve their ACT scores—we help them get into their dream colleges, secure scholarships to pay for them, and grow as students along the way. The hardest part of ACT prep is putting in the work, which is why our team-based system keeps students engaged and committed. Our program is one of the most relationship-focused in the nation, with coaches in contact with their students nearly every day.
Our web app further enhances efficiency by identifying each student’s knowledge gaps, allowing them to focus on mastering the material that matters most. And with our five-point increase guarantee, working with us is risk-free. If your student puts in the work and doesn’t achieve at least a five-point composite increase, we offer free sessions until they do or part or all of your money back—whichever you think is fair.
But the biggest reason to choose us? Results. Over 70% of students who complete the recommended hours see at least a five-point composite increase or reach a 32 superscore. Considering each ACT point is worth, on average, $2,500 in additional scholarships over four years, even a single extra point beyond what other programs deliver will more than cover the cost of our program. If your student is serious about mastering this test, you’ve found the right place. Read on to learn how we do it!
Team-Based Programs
Just like learning to play a musical instrument, mastering a new language, or getting in shape, the hardest part of ACT prep is staying consistent and putting in the hours, even when the going gets tough. To tackle this challenge, we’ve developed a team-based structure for our ACT prep programs. Students have the opportunity to join a team and compete against others, with weekly gift cards up for grabs for the winning team. Teams succeed when the most members complete their five commitments for the week—the toughest being 1.5 to 2 hours of prep per day, six days a week. This structure encourages students to stay engaged and focus on the effort they put in, not just the results.
Students can opt to join a team or go solo (where individual stats aren’t factored into team rankings). Those who choose to join a team are committing to upholding our five pillars of success throughout the program. This "opt-in" approach fosters a deeper sense of accountability and ensures that every student is fully bought in, ready to take on the challenge and work toward their goals.
Assistant Coaches
Our assistant coaches’ primary goal is to guide their teams to victory by focusing on each student’s unique needs and strengths. Every coach has achieved a 34 superscore or higher on the ACT, so they know what it takes to succeed.
Before the program even begins, each coach conducts a one-on-one orientation with their students to get to know them personally, understand their goals, and tailor their study plan accordingly. Throughout the program, coaches stay in close contact via text, phone, and Zoom—offering daily support, answering questions, and adjusting study plans as students progress. Whether it’s helping a student master a specific section or identifying gaps they didn’t realize they had, our coaches fine-tune each student’s approach to ensure they stay on track to meet their goals.
Lead Coach
When your family joins our program, I, Bobby Nicholson, personally take responsibility for your student’s success. As the founder of ACTprep.com and the lead instructor for all our team-based programs, my mission is to help every student hit their goal score. I don’t just oversee the program—I’m involved in coaching, guiding, and supporting each student.
My own journey was far from typical. I struggled in high school—retaking Algebra I five times, regularly skipping most of my classes, and eventually dropping out. Without a diploma, I quickly realized life wasn’t going to unfold as I had imagined. After earning my GED, I enrolled in Pellissippi State Community College, where I was fortunate to find mentors who guided me toward success in both school and life.
Their support made all the difference. I became student body president, achieved near-perfect scores in all my math classes, and earned a spot on USA Today’s All Tennessee Academic Team. I graduated from Pellissippi State with a 3.84 GPA and went on to complete my degree at Maryville College.
My hope is to be to others what my mentors have been to me. I know firsthand the challenges students face, and the ACTprep.com team and I have built a system that empowers students to overcome those challenges. With the right guidance and effort, I believe any student can achieve their goals, and I’m committed to making that happen.
Our Web App and Guaranteed Results
Our Web App
While the team-based game keeps students engaged and committed, our web app ensures they make the most of every hour they invest. It diagnoses knowledge gaps from middle school concepts to advanced topics and assigns personalized modules to target those areas. The app organizes daily tasks, keeps students on track, and provides updates to coaches and parents on progress. With clear, daily goals, students can focus on mastering the material that matters most.
Mastering the Timing
Timing is one of the biggest challenges on the ACT, and our web app makes it much easier to manage. Students input their practice test answers directly into the app, which not only grades the test but also provides a detailed breakdown—question by question, section by section, and category by category. This real-time analysis offers both students and coaches immediate feedback on timing challenges and content gaps.
With this insight, students can quickly adjust their approach to master pacing in each section, while coaches fine-tune their guidance to ensure students are fully prepared for test day.
Our Five-Point Increase Guarantee
We offer the most straightforward guarantee in the industry, making it risk-free to work with us. If your student puts in the recommended hours in one of our 13-week programs and doesn’t achieve at least a five-point composite increase (all the way up to a 32 superscore), we’ll either provide free sessions until they reach their goal or refund part or all of your money—whichever you think is fair. It’s that simple.
Our five-star rating on Google reflects our commitment to this guarantee. While not every student hits the five-point increase, we are dedicated to making things right for those who don’t.
Our Programs
We offer four main team-based options: Core, Core+, 34+ Guaranteed, and mini-programs. All of these programs meet on Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. ET. Each session is recorded, so students can watch the recordings if they are unable to attend live.
Students from across the nation join our program via Zoom, while those near Knoxville, TN, have the option to attend in person at Pellissippi State, where we live-stream the classes. Whether attending in person or online, students see the same level of success—what matters most is the effort and hours they put in between sessions.
13-Week Program Overview
Let’s start with the Core program. We offer new start dates almost every month, with a registration deadline two weeks in advance. This allows students enough time to complete six to eight hours of pre-work before the first day of class. Students who sign up after the deadline may still join, as long as they can finish the pre-work before their first session.
How students begin the program plays a crucial role in their overall success. The first three weeks are designed to build habits that will carry them through the rest of the program. The pre-work is essential for setting them up for success, including daily 'hype' texts to introduce them to the program and build excitement. Students will need to download several apps, complete their enrollment forms, and attend a one-on-one Zoom orientation with their coach to get to know each other, answer the student’s questions, and help them mentally prepare. They will also need to register for their ACTs and Mock ACTs. Finally, the most important task is preparing for their quiz, which will take place on the first day of class.
Most weeks, our classes follow a consistent structure. We begin by recognizing student achievements from the previous week. After that, we hold a team meeting, giving every student the opportunity to participate and get to know their teammates. We then conclude with a lecture designed to help students sharpen their skills and strategies.
Our lectures are focused on teaching students how to train as efficiently as possible. Since students invest a lot of time in our program, we want to ensure they maximize their results for every hour spent. It’s surprising how many students, even those who excel academically, haven’t learned how to study effectively. Our classes provide them with the tools, methodologies, and success principles they need, while also demonstrating how to apply these strategies in their own practice. While we cover content in class, our main goal is to show students how to train in the most effective way possible.
The real magic happens between the weekly classes. Our app provides students with a daily schedule, outlining exactly what they need to do and in what order. A typical day begins with 10 to 30 minutes of memorization, followed by a diagnostic ‘challenge’ to track progress, practice timing, and identify gaps. Students then spend the rest of their 1.5 to 2 hours working through targeted modules to master those gaps. The app ensures each student focuses on what they need most. Meanwhile, coaches stay in regular contact through text, phone, or Zoom to provide feedback, encouragement, and support. This combination of personalized app guidance and relationship-based coaching is what truly sets us apart.
We focus on one subject at a time, with students taking at least two tests per week in that subject: a mid-week test and an end-of-week test. This regular testing allows students, coaches, and parents to track progress in real-time. Students input their answers directly into the app, which generates a detailed analysis, breaking down results by question, section, and category. This clear feedback helps students and coaches stay focused on the areas that need the most improvement.
Our app and coaches can adjust each student’s plan weekly, ensuring they focus on the subjects they need most. However, most students follow a general structure: one month of English, one month of math, and a five-week Fast Track section, covering one week of each subject followed by a review week. This completes a 13-week cycle, with the order depending on the student's start date. Students who complete the recommended 1.5 to 2 hours of prep, six days per week, can expect a five-point composite increase on their ACT score—we guarantee it!
Core and Core+ Programs
The Core and Core+ programs each follow a single 13-week cycle. For students seeking extended support, the 34+ Guaranteed Year-Long program offers the option to stay in the program for up to a year. Our mini-programs focus on one section of the 13-week cycle, allowing students to target specific areas.
The Core program ($1,189) and Core+ program ($1,599) – The Core program is ideal for students seeking structured support. For those needing extra guidance in specific areas, Core+ offers four personalized one-on-one sessions to help deepen understanding and overcome specific challenges. We recommend the Core+ program for students starting with a score below 23 or for those who struggle with math or English.
34+ Guaranteed Program
The 34+ Guaranteed program allows students to stay in the program for up to a year, completing multiple 13-week cycles. For students who put in the recommended hours, we guarantee at least a six-point composite increase, though most students see an eight-point improvement. In the first 13 weeks, students are encouraged to commit 1.5 to 2 hours of prep per day, six days per week. After completing the initial cycle, students can take as many breaks as needed to fit their schedule, but must maintain a minimum of 1 hour per day, five days per week when actively engaged.
This program offers flexibility, allowing students to step back when necessary while continuing to make steady progress toward their goals. Most students reach their target score within six months, but those who continue for the full year often achieve a ten-point composite increase. The 34+ program is perfect for students aiming for more than a five-point improvement or those who want long-term support and guaranteed results.
Mini-Programs
Our mini-programs are designed for students who need focused support in just one section of the ACT. These targeted options include English month ($549), math month ($549), and the Fast Track Five-Week program ($652). Mini-programs are ideal for students who want specialized help in a single subject or who can’t commit to the full 13-week program.
It’s important to note that these mini-programs are not condensed versions of the full 13-week program. Instead, they are individual sections of the larger program, allowing students to focus on a specific subject at their own pace. For those interested in completing the full program but unable to do it all at once, we offer the option to sign up for the 13-week program and break it into three parts over the course of a year or more, ensuring steady progress toward their goals.

Ideal Prep Time
For Seniors -
If your student hasn’t started prepping yet, now is the time! The December ACT is typically the last test accepted by many schools for admissions. However, many schools allow students to retake the ACT after application deadlines to boost their scholarship opportunities. Starting prep now ensures your student can take advantage of these final opportunities. For Juniors -
The earlier you start, the more time you have to reach your target score. Starting ACT prep now gives you a strong foundation heading into senior year, offering plenty of time to retake the test if needed and maximize both your admissions chances and scholarship potential. For Sophomores -
In our experience, sophomore year is the ideal time for most students to begin ACT prep, even if they haven’t completed Algebra 2 and Geometry. Early prep gives students a significant advantage—many of our students score a 34 or higher before junior year even begins. In addition to setting you up for ACT success, early prep helps you excel on the PSAT, become eligible for dual enrollment, and stand out for programs like Governor’s School. For Freshmen and Younger -
Nearly every student who has completed our program during their freshman year or earlier has finished high school with a 34 or above. Learning the study skills and techniques we teach early in high school gives students a tremendous advantage. If your student is ready for the challenge and committed to putting in the work, we’d love to have them on a team!
