Oxfolk Ceilidh with The Pigeon Swing and caller Baz Parkes
Sat 8 Feb 2025 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM GMT
Kennington Village Centre, OX1 5PG
Description
The Pigeon Swing plays a unique combination of lively traditional Québécois dance tunes in an English style: perfect for an up beat, exciting dance at Oxfolk! This is a band of excellent and well-known dance musicians, who know exactly what to do to get the party started!
The star-studded line-up is Dan Quinn on melodeons (Flowers & Frolics, Gas Mark 5), Martin Brinsford on mouthorgan and feet (The Old Swan Band, Brass Monkey), Paul Burgess on fiddle (The Old Swan Band and The English String Band), Ian Kearey on bass guitar (Duck Soup and The Oyster Band) and Tim Normanton on banjo (Grand Union, Housewives’ Choice).
They are joined by caller Baz Parkes, who last visited Oxfolk with The Ironmasters. His warm humour and brilliant collection of dances will keep us all busy and entertained.
The phenomenal Armaleggan will be dancing border morris dances with added grrrr during the interval.
Doors 7.30pm, dancing from 8 until 11pm.
There is a licensed bar with ale, cider, wine and soft drinks.
