Oxfolk Ceilidh with Hekety and caller Lisa Heywood
Sat 8 Mar 2025 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM GMT
Kennington Village Centre, OX1 5PG
Description
Hekety is a bit magic! Widely regarded as one of the best ceilidh bands currently playing the circuit, they formed at Sheffield University in the 1990s. Since then, they’ve become highly sought after for their unmistakable ability to play sublime dance music: fantastic tunes with the perfect rhythmical emphasis. The band are Jess Arrowsmith on fiddle, Richard Arrowsmith on melodeon, Jo Veal on clarinet, Gavin Davenport on cittern and guitar and Nigel Holmes on bass guitar.
Lisa Heywood is a folk dance caller known
for her creative and enthusiastic style. She aims to make every dance as
inclusive as possible and she has a varied repertoire of traditional
and self-written dances. Lisa uses non-gendered calls.
The fabulous Mabel Gubbins will be entertaining us with rapper sword and clog dances during the interval.
Doors 7.30pm, dancing from 8 until 11pm.
There is a licensed bar with ale, cider, wine and soft drinks.
