Oxfolk Ceilidh with The Bismarcks and caller Ollie Simons

Reforming for their 30th anniversary in 2026, highly influential and utterly awesome group The Bismarcks is an English ceilidh dance band comprising Gareth Kiddier (piano), Nina Hansell (fiddle), and Ed Rennie (melodeon). They have released two critically acclaimed albums with support from the English Folk Dance and Song Society which remain formative references for top quality English traditional dance music.

Joining them to call the dances is Ollie Simons, one of the most charismatic and in-demand young callers currently on the scene. His calling is infectious, you can't help but dance with a grin on your face. Ollie uses gender neutral, positional calls.

Half time entertainment comes from Djinn and Soniq who blend folk and pop with harp and pipes, putting a new spin on old tunes and an old shine on new ones.

There is a licensed bar with ale, cider, wine and soft drinks.

Saving the planet - Oxfolk is no longer serving drinks in disposable glasses so please bring along your own reusable glasses or purchase an Oxfolk one at the bar.

- Carer free - if you have a disability and need a personal assistant so that you can enjoy an evening at Oxfolk, we’re happy to provide you with an extra ticket for them, free of charge

Illness and Refund Policy

• If you're feeling unwell and may be suffering from a transmissible illness, please don't come and we'll refund.

Access

• If you have a disability and need someone with you so that you can enjoy our events, we're happy to provide you with a ticket for them, free of charge. You can book a carer’s ticket when you book your own.

• There is one accessible parking space adjacent to the Centre. There is level access into the Centre, with a ramp at the front. An accessible toilet is available.

• Lighting is, depending on the time of day, natural light or the hall’s own lighting. We do not use flashing lights.

• There is a quieter area in the lobby, which is next to the hall but also separate from it.

• For called dances, use of non-gendered positional terms or alternative role names in calling is explained in the event description.
