Oxfolk Ceilidh with Frog on a Bike and caller Barry Goodman
Sat 12 Nov 2022 7:30 PM - 11:00 PM GMT
Kennington Village Centre, OX1 5PG
Description
The Wear-Something-Green Themed Ceilidh
Frog on a Bike has been forging quite a reputation on the English ceilidh and festival scene for their vivacious and utterly joyful big folk rock sound. Expect catchy tunes and playful arrangements, led by melodeon, recorder and fiddle or mandolin, with the kind of driving rhythm from guitar, bass and drums that makes you get up and dance. They’ve played a number of festivals including Towersey, Sidmouth and Cambridge and we’re delighted to welcome them to Oxfolk.
"Listen and dance to your heart's delight!" Chris Leslie (Fairport Convention).
Our caller is Barry Goodman, with his trademark reassuring manner and brilliant way of explaining dances quickly and clearly. He’s one of the most in-demand callers on the English folk dance scene, and has a great selection of dances to share with us.
So, what’s all this about wearing green? In honour of the most marvellous, always beautifully turned out, Frog on a Bike, we invite you all to wear something green. Interpret this as freely as you like. Perhaps a green t-shirt, ball gown, or full frog suit? The choice is yours.
