GALETTE DES ROIS aka KINGS' CAKE
Ring in the New Year with a Galette des Rois a.k.a King’s Cake – a flakey, buttery, puff pastry filled with a layer of crème d’amandes inside. Allegedly, they originated in Pithiviers, France to celebrate the Epiphany on Jan. 6th. A fève (bean) or a small toy is traditionally baked into the tart and whoever finds it (preferably a little kid) gets the trinket and is king for the day.
Our limited edition Galette des Rois comes with a whole almond hidden inside and paper crown for some lucky person who finds it. Available in 6" and 8" sizes from now until January 31 in Blue Hat Bakery-Café or by pre-order with 2 days notice (Saturday and Sunday orders are ready on the following Wednesday).
