Hard Cider Brewing Class 2026
Turning fresh apple cider into delicious fermented hard cider is the easiest and most enjoyable of fermentation processes. We obtain our juice (must) through local orchards. Students customize their cider through choices of yeast, level of dryness and additions such as fruit, spices, and herbs. We discuss various aspects of cider making from growing trees to historical and contemporary brewing techniques. We sample plenty of commercial cider as we go. Each student completes the course with approximately 3 gallons of finished, bottled cider. Intermediate students with prior experience will gain increased knowledge about various aspects of cider making through instruction and independent study. We meet from 6-9 pm on Mondays: 9/28, 10/5, 10/26 and 12/7, at my studio in Fleetwood, PA. You will leave on 12/7 with approx. 3 gallons of bottled cider. You will then condition your cider by keeping it at home in a dark place for 4-6 weeks. This will create the carbonation. If you can't make a particular class, we can make it up or figure something out. Class is $175.
