Displaced Concerts

Displaced is a monthly concert series where traditional and experimental sounds meet in spontaneity, unifying to create a space for their displaced sounds ~ a space for artists & audiences to share, feel, rage, and heal together.

THE ARTISTS

Silai- Silai weaves ambient production, meditative rap, poetry, and performance into street sounds of remembrance.

Fatima Lahham - Described as 'an improvisational recorder player mixing in sounds of bees and Palestinian poetry', Fatima is a musician based in London. Her first album 'bulbul' was released in 2022. Fatima often has the privilege of facilitating music in community and healthcare settings, most recently in hospitals in Cairo and London. After completing her PhD on decolonial approaches to historical improvisation practices, she is now a researcher at the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and Research Resident at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. @fictionalfatima

Roxanna Albayati- Roxanna Albayati is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher. Her practice centres around combining experimental music with performance art and audio-visuals, where her music merges cross-cultural improvisation with Iranian Dastgāh and the physicality of performance. Through an embodied research and artistic practice, Roxanna explores the conscious/subconscious and self/other, fascinated by the process and natural evolution of discovery. @roxhsana

Kareem Samara-Kareem Samara is an improviser and composer from London. He has worked extensively in theatre as a composer and has toured with different iterations of solo and collaborative musical projects. He combines the Oud and Arabic percussion, with loopers and samplers to create a new dialogue between himself and technology. @kareemsamaramusic

Postcards - All profits from these postcards will go towards Palestinian mutual aid through our friend, Dirar Kalash. Over the past months, Dirar has been collecting funds and sharing them on a needs basis amongst communities and grassroots charities in Palestine.
