Crossing: Sabrin Hasbun in Conversation with Hazem Jamjoum
Presented by Palestine House, Counterpoints Arts & Footnote Press
Join us for an evening of storytelling, memory, and identity as Sabrin Hasbun discusses her powerful family memoir Crossing—a moving account of love, grief, and the complexities of belonging.
Described as “vivid, compassionate, captivating” by Elif Shafak, and praised for its originality by Philippe Sands, Crossing retraces the extraordinary love story between Hasbun’s Palestinian father and Italian mother, spanning from the 1960s to 2020. Following her mother’s death, Sabrin embarks on a journey to understand her dual heritage, uncovering the choices and challenges that shaped her family’s intertwined destinies across Palestine and Tuscany.
In conversation with Palestinian educator and translator Hazem Jamjoum, this event promises deep reflections on identity, displacement, and resilience. Jamjoum is an editor at Maqam Editions and the acclaimed translator of works by Ghassan Kanafani and Maya Abu al-Hayyat.
