The Last Palestinian

We are thrilled to welcome writer and performer Randa Jarrar to Palestine House. Randa Jarrar is an award-winning Palestinian author of a novel, a short story collection, and memoirs. She also voices Teta in Ramy Youssef’s new animated series, #1 Happy Family USA.

Her one-woman performance, Asheerah, tells the story of a young woman enduring genocide. To survive the unbearable reality of bombings and annihilation, Asheerah turns to a series of ingenious local inventions that help her escape conscious awareness of the pain around her. Wrapped in a shroud, she awakens in the year 2055 to discover she is the last person on Earth.

Through another invention, she encounters Francesca—an AI companion carrying the consciousness of Italian legal scholar and human rights expert Francesca Albanese.

The audience joins Asheerah on her journey as, through Francesca’s history channels, she learns how the world ended and how those who resisted ensured that justice was carried out before their final moments.
