Join Ahmed Tobasi in conversation with Taghrid Choucair-Vizoso on cultural resistance, artistic censorship, and the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Jenin Refugee Camp, Palestine.

Born in Jenin Camp during the First Intifada, Tobasi joined the armed resistance to defend his community during the Second Intifada. For him, culture has always been inseparable from political struggle. While imprisoned for four years in a desert detention camp, he was inspired to become an actor. There, the arts became a means of survival, a way to forge identity, and an act of defiance.

Today, as Tobasi and more than 23,000 fellow refugees face forced displacement from Jenin Camp, the stage has become an urgent site of resistance—fighting erasure while affirming life, creativity, and the right of return.

The conversation will be chaired by Taghrid Choucair-Vizoso, a curator, activist, and artist from South Lebanon.
