Arabic Basics Program – Beginner Group Course
Program Description
This Arabic Language Program (Level 1) is designed for beginners who want to build a strong foundation in Arabic. The program combines recorded academic sessions with live interactive sessions to ensure both theoretical understanding and practical language use. Students will learn the basics of Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha) through recorded lessons, while live sessions will focus on practical communication, including commonly used expressions and spoken Arabic (with a Palestinian/modern spoken accent).
The program includes:
Live Sessions (5 Sessions)
The program includes 5 live online sessions designed for interaction, practice, and answering students’ questions.
• Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes per session
• Time: 5pm-6:30pm
• Dates: 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd February + 1st March
• This can be attended from home or from Palestine House
• Focus: Practical usage, speaking practice, and clarification of recorded content
• Accent used: Practical spoken Arabic (Palestinian / modern spoken Arabic)
Recorded Sessions (10 Sessions)
10 recorded sessions that students can access at any time. These sessions focus on the academic and structural side of Arabic.
Recorded sessions will cover:
• Arabic phonetics and correct pronunciation
• Arabic alphabet and sound system
• Basic greetings and daily expressions
• Introducing oneself in Arabic (basic level)
• Structure of simple Arabic sentences
• Basic verb conjugation (present tense)
• Basic conversational patterns
• Introduction to formal Arabic (Fusha)
Learning Outcomes
By the end of Level 1, students will be able to:
• Pronounce Arabic sounds correctly
• Use basic greetings confidently
• Introduce themselves in Arabic
• Form simple sentences
• Understand the basic structure of Arabic
• Use common verbs in simple contexts
• Communicate in basic everyday situations
• Recognize the difference between formal Arabic and spoken Arabic
About the Instructor
This course is taught by Mai Mohamed Al-Beik, a Palestinian language trainer from Gaza who recently escaped the ongoing genocide and is currently residing in Egypt. The course will be delivered online, with Mai teaching remotely from Egypt while students join either at Palestine House or from home.
Mai is an international language trainer with over 13 years of professional experience teaching languages to non-native speakers. She holds a degree in English, French, and Arabic Language and Literature from the Faculty of Arts, providing her with a strong academic foundation in linguistics and language education.
Throughout her career, Mai has worked across diverse educational settings, delivering structured, effective language programmes aligned with international teaching standards. She has trained learners from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds and has collaborated with multiple international institutions.
Mai is fluent in and qualified to teach five languages: Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and Turkish. She holds several international and regional certifications, including CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Cambridge University, as well as TOT (Training of Trainers) and PPT (Professional Presentation Training) certifications.
Her teaching approach is highly flexible and learner-centred, adapting to each student’s level, pace, and individual learning goals, with a strong focus on clarity, accuracy, and practical communication. Mai works as a certified trainer in accordance with international standards, ensuring high-quality instruction and measurable learning outcomes.
A copy of her CELTA assessment and evaluation can be provided as part of the programme documentation.
