Hekayyatna Salon: The Stories In Our Hands

The Stories in our Hands is an interactive, reflective workshop that invites participants to explore cultural identity through personal objects and stories. Attendees are encouraged to bring an object, photograph, song, poem, or recipe that holds meaning in relation to their cultural background or their relationship to it.

Using storytelling and guided prompts, participants will be supported to explore the emotional, cultural, and historical significance of what they have brought. The workshop creates a safe, inclusive space for writing, listening, and connection, recognising that cultural identity is layered, evolving, and deeply personal.

This workshop is suitable for all writing levels and offers participants the opportunity to reflect, create, and leave with a piece of writing that honours their story and the wider cultural bundles we all carry.
