Ahl al-Qalam (أهل القلم) | People of the Pen
Whether you're an experienced writer, an occasional journal keeper, or simply someone with a story waiting to be told, Ahl al-Qalam (People of the Pen) is a welcoming writing circle for anyone who wants to write in community.
Hosted at Palestine House, this bi-weekly gathering is a space to explore creative writing, poetry, memoir, personal essays, letters, and storytelling inspired by memory, identity, belonging, resistance, joy, and everyday life. Each session begins with a thoughtfully chosen prompt, followed by dedicated writing time and the opportunity to share your work in a supportive, respectful environment—sharing is always optional.
Together, we'll read, write, reflect, and encourage one another, drawing inspiration from Palestinian literature and the rich tradition of storytelling that connects people across generations and borders.
Bring a notebook, a laptop, or simply yourself. All levels of experience are welcome.
What to expect:
- Guided writing prompts
- Quiet writing time
- Optional sharing and group feedback
- Tea, conversation, and community
No experience is necessary—just a willingness to put pen to paper.
