Threads That Remember: Palestinian Tatreez Workshop

Join us for an introductory workshop exploring Palestinian Tatreez — not simply as embroidery, but as a living language of identity, memory and belonging.

Recognised by UNESCO as part of Palestine’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, Tatreez has been passed down through generations, with motifs carrying connections to place, family and Palestinian cultural life. Traditionally stitched into everyday garments, these patterns became a way for women to preserve and express stories through thread.

The session will begin with an introduction to the history, symbolism and regional diversity of Tatreez, before moving into the practical side of embroidery. Participants will learn the foundations of the cross-stitch technique and create their own small embroidered piece in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Whether you are discovering Tatreez for the first time, reconnecting with a familiar tradition, or simply curious to learn, this workshop offers a chance to slow down, stitch by stitch, and engage with a beautiful and enduring part of Palestinian heritage.
