This September, Palestine House opens its doors for its first-ever Palestine House Film & Arts Festival — a three-day celebration of cinema, storytelling, creativity and Palestinian life.

Across three days, five cinema spaces throughout Palestine House will come alive with an eclectic programme of short films, documentaries, animation, experimental cinema and feature-length films from Palestine and around the world.

At the heart of the festival are Palestinian filmmakers and storytellers — including voices from Gaza, Jerusalem, the West Bank and the diaspora — alongside international filmmakers whose work engages with Palestine, displacement, colonialism, identity, memory, resistance and the universal struggle for freedom.

From intimate stories of everyday life to powerful documentaries documenting occupation and survival, the programme offers many different ways of seeing Palestine. These are stories of loss and remembrance, but also of humour, creativity, family, culture, sport, food, childhood, belonging and hope.

The festival features films including Aisha’s Story, Palestinian on the Road, Older Than Israel, Dancing Palestine, Everyday in Gaza, Resistance Recipes, Epicly Palestine’d, Seeds & Roots, ROHY, First Lieutenant and many more.

With screenings running throughout the day across multiple rooms, audiences can move between programmes, discover new filmmakers and experience a diverse collection of Palestinian and internationally connected cinema. Selected evening screenings will also be followed by Q&As, creating space for conversation between filmmakers and audiences.

The festival also includes a continuous screening programme in the Nablus Room, looping throughout all three days, alongside special evening screenings and a closing programme featuring a Q&A, dabke and live band.

A festival of stories that refuse to disappear

Cinema has always been a way of preserving memory, challenging dominant narratives and allowing people to tell their own stories.

For Palestinian filmmakers, the camera can become an archive — preserving places, people, memories and everyday moments that could otherwise be erased. Many of the films in this programme explore precisely this: how we remember, how we survive, and how we continue to create in the face of extraordinary circumstances.

This festival is dedicated to the memory of Ismail Abu Hatab, the Palestinian photojournalist and filmmaker from Gaza whose work documented the realities, resilience and humanity of life in Gaza. His commitment to bearing witness continues through the filmmakers and stories brought together here.
