Talking Towers- Towers in the Bible and Apocalyptic Thinking
A talk by Professor James Crossley, Director of CenSAMM
The Panacea Society (1919-2012) believed their leader was the Daughter of God and their garden was on the site of the Garden of Eden. They looked forward to the return of Jesus Christ at the Second Coming and spent their time preparing for the coming Apocalypse. The Society built their own chapel and clock tower, and named their outposts around the world ‘towers’.
The Panacea Charitable Trust operate both the Museum and the Centre for the Critical Study of Apocalyptic and Millenarian Movements (CenSAMM). CenSAMM promote high quality critical and academic research into apocalyptic and millenarian movements across time, place and culture. The Panacea Museum and CenSAMM have organised this event as part of the Being Human Festival.
