Umoja and PG team up for a special Easter Weekend Special on Saturday 4th April with live music and DJs sets from Estère, Liz Ikamba, Mattana and Ikamba.

ESTÈRE

Estère doesn’t play music - she creates sonic amalgamations that merge culture, language and legend. She breathes life into narratives that marry the acutely human to the achingly mythic. Her vocals soar and then swoon, beckoning sultrily and opening gates to new interpretations of age-old tales. Estère plays ‘electric blue witch-hop,' as she refers to her dimensions of electronic, folk and R&B. The New Zealand Herald called it “a beautiful mix of everything the music world is lauding and lusting after right now.”

LIZ IKAMBA

British-Congolese (DRC) singer and multi-instrumentalist Liz Ikamba cross pollinates musical and cultural influences, seamlessly blending the rich and vibrant sounds of Congo folk music with elements of Jazz and Soul. Liz was born in DR Congo and came to the UK with her family aged 4. Always singing and dancing as a child, she continued to develop her musicality in school choirs and orchestras in her early years, and singing a cappella and R&B as a teenager. The Ikamba family welcomed musical diversity ranging from Congolese choral music and Soukous to Western Classical. This awareness of global musical and cultural influences continues to inform her artistic and musical output. In addition to her work as a performing artist, Liz is also a motivational vocal leader and creative facilitator in her outreach work with groups and communities of all ages and backgrounds.

MATTANA

Mattana is a multi-instrumentalist hailing from London, bringing dance music from around the world to her eclectic sets. Mattana is a strong believer in the power of music to unite and break down cultural boundaries, with her DJ sets reflecting her global influences. Primarily combining Afro, Latin and Caribbean beats, she has become a renowned selector in the London bar & club scene, playing regularly at Brixton Hootenanny and the Jago, and festivals such as Boomtown Festival, Tropical Pressure and LoveJam, and was invited to play with Black Kings Entertainment at Kupe Århus, Denmark.

IKAMBA

Hailing from the vibrant heart of the Congo (DRC), Ikamba's musical journey began early, rooted in a rich tapestry of sound & movement. This is reflected in his intuitive and soulful approach to the music he plays, which so often creates a musical journey that is simultaneously familiar yet uniquely adventurous – celebrating culture, connection, and sound. Fusing rhythms from the African diaspora with sounds from across the globe, to delving into the deeper realms of electronic music. Expect hypnotic melodies & captivating rhythms, coupled with percussive textures & rich, resonant bass lines.
