Understanding Resuscitation and "Heroics": The Conversation You Didn't Know You Needed
Presented by Connie Jorsvik, BSN, of PatientPathways.ca, join us to unpack what resuscitation and "heroics" actually mean in the context of serious illness, frailty, or dementia — so your wishes, not assumptions, guide the decision.
It is common to assume that emergency treatments like CPR or breathing machines will naturally be bypassed because of your age or health. However, in our healthcare system, the automatic rule is often to do everything possible unless specific legal forms are already in place. While many say they don’t want "heroics," few truly understand what resuscitation and critical care mean in the context of serious illness, frailty, or dementia.
Instead of leaving your loved ones to make difficult guesses during a health crisis, this session ensures you have the knowledge to ensure your wishes are known and respected.
At the end of our chat, we will open the floor for your questions.
Can’t make it? Not to worry, the recording will be emailed to all registrants.

A Note About Registration
The credit card section for donations on the following pages defaults to a US address format, making entering Canadian postcodes tricky.
Here's the simple fix:
- When you get to the credit card payment section, look for the small US flag icon next to the billing address fields.
- Click the flag, and you will be able to select Canada (CA).
- The address fields will instantly update to Canadian style—provinces like BC/ON and proper postal code format.
- Fill in your details and complete payment.
So sorry for the trouble, and hugest gratitude for your contributions. We're working with Ticket Tailor to improve defaults, but this fix will work in the meantime. If you've tried this and it still doesn't work, please email: connie@patientpathways.ca
