Kambi Kolam workshop with Anuradha Reddy
Tue 20 Feb 2024 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Theatre Deli Sheffield, S2 4QP
Description
Kolam is a heritage folk art from Tamil Nadu in Southern India. These are hand-drawn patterns made on a grid of dots (pulli) and are passed down through generations of Tamil women. The Kolam tradition is millennia old, diffused between regions (termed Rangoli in the North, Muggu in Telugu-speaking regions), continually evolving, and connected to ritual, aesthetics, and religion.
In this workshop we'll be introduced to a method for drawing Kolam by Anuradha Reddy, following templates generated live for us by a hacked receipt printer.
We'll start at 6pm, feel free to arrive a bit earlier!
