Course Details

The Certified Scrum Professional – ScrumMaster (CSP-SM) is the pinnacle certification in the Scrum Alliance Scrum Master track. This two-day, highly interactive course is designed for experienced Scrum Masters ready to operate at a professional level, driving real change across teams and organisations.

Delivered by Paul Lister, a Scrum Alliance Certified Trainer, the course covers all 29 official Scrum Alliance Learning Objectives across six modules:

  • • Module 1, Lean, Agile and Scrum
  • • Module 2, Scrum Master Core Competencies
  • • Module 3, Service to the Scrum Team
  • • Module 4, Service to the Product Owner
  • • Module 5, Service to the Organisation
  • • Module 6, Advanced Scrum Mastery

The course runs for 16 hours across two days and combines trainer-led content with hands-on exercises, group discussions, and peer learning using Miro. No exam is required. Upon completion your trainer will verify and register your certification with Scrum Alliance.

Who Should Attend

This course is for Scrum Masters who hold their A-CSM and have real-world experience in the role. You’ll get the most from this course if you are:

  • • Currently working as a Scrum Master and want to deepen your professional practice
  • • Looking to take the next step toward Certified Scrum Trainer, Certified Team Coach, or Certified Enterprise Coach
  • • Facing complex organisational challenges and want more advanced tools and frameworks to tackle them
  • • Ready to move from doing Scrum to leading Scrum, coaching others, and influencing your organisation

Prerequisites: You must hold an Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) certification from Scrum Alliance. You will also need to validate 24 months of Scrum Master work experience within the last five years in your Scrum Alliance profile before your certification can be awarded.

Agenda

Day 1

  • • Welcome, introductions and course overview
  • • Module 1, Lean, Agile and Scrum, understanding Lean Thinking, TIM WOOD, and the five Lean principles applied to Scrum
  • • Module 2, Scrum Master Core Competencies, advanced facilitation techniques, coaching skills, and professional stances
  • • Module 3, Service to the Scrum Team, team dynamics, launching new Scrum teams, and addressing dysfunction

Day 2

  • • Module 4, Service to the Product Owner, developing product goals, backlog refinement techniques, and managing complex or multi-team backlogs
  • • Module 5, Service to the Organisation, systemic approaches to Scrum adoption, scaling Scrum, and leading organisational change
  • • Module 6, Advanced Scrum Mastery, personal development strategy, mentoring, and next steps on the path to Scrum Mastery
  • • Closing reflections and next steps

This course is delivered online via video conference and Miro. Joining details will be sent ahead of the course.

Please ensure you have:

  • • A reliable internet connection
  • • A device with a camera and microphone
  • • Access to Miro (free account is sufficient)
  • • Your video camera switched on throughout the course, as required by Scrum Alliance

A pre-course reading list will be shared with registered participants in advance. Post-course, your trainer will verify your completion and register you with Scrum Alliance. You will then receive an email to accept your CSP-SM licence agreement and complete your membership profile.

Expectations

This is an active, participatory course. You will be expected to:

  • • Attend and engage fully across both days
  • • Participate in group exercises, discussions, and peer learning activities
  • • Bring your real-world experience and challenges to share with the group
  • • Complete any pre-course preparation provided by your trainer

The course is not lecture-based. Every topic is explored through practical exercises and facilitated discussion, so the more you bring, the more you will take away.
