Banquet of Stories 2026: A Seat at the Table

Hosted by the Pacific Canada Heritage Centre – Museum of Migration (PCHC-MoM), with ongoing support from the Museum of Vancouver (MOV), this annual signature event brings together community members to share powerful stories of migration, belonging, and identity.

Event Overview

Food carries stories. A familiar flavour can bring us back to a childhood kitchen, a family gathering, or a place once called home. Recipes travel across borders and generations, changing along the way while carrying pieces of culture, memory, and identity with them.

The Banquet of Stories 2026 brings together art, culture, food, and family stories to explore the many journeys that shape who we are and how we connect with one another. This year’s theme, A Seat at the Table, invites us to experience those journeys through flavour, storytelling, performance, and cultural traditions – things people carry with them, preserve across generations, share with others, and reimagine as they build a sense of home in Canada.

At this year's Banquet of Stories, we invite people from all backgrounds to take a seat, share what they bring to the table, and discover the stories carried by others.

• Admission to the MOV Galleries — explore the museum's exhibitions before or after the event
• Live Cultural Experiences — performances celebrating traditions and creative expression
• A Light Buffet — gather around food and enjoy flavours that bring people together
• Journeys Through Flavour — discover stories of memory, migration, and culture shared by local food vendors
• Silent Auction — features a selection of special items and experiences
