Protecting the Peak District: Conservation, Resilience and Recovery in the National Park

Join the Peak District National Park Authority and Moors for the Future Partnership for an engaging and inspiring event exploring the vital work taking place to protect, restore and enhance the Peak District's iconic landscapes.

Through films, expert talks, discussion and a guided walk, discover how partners across the National Park are working together to restore damaged peatlands, support wildlife, and build resilient landscapes for future generations.

You'll also learn about the devastating impact that wildfires can have on these fragile environments and hear first-hand about the efforts underway to protect and recover some of the Peak District's most treasured places.

What to expect

Here from experts about their work across the National Park, and enjoy two short films showcasing the challenges and successes of moorland restoration in the Peak District, including inspiring stories of nature recovery, partnership working and community involvement.

Following the screenings, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and join a discussion with members of the Moors for the Future Partnership and Peak District National Park Authority teams.

All films will be subtitled in English.

Guided ranger walk

Following the indoor session, A Peak District National Park Ranger will lead a guided walk into the surrounding landscape.

Taking the conversation out into the landscape, you'll explore how these remarkable environments are managed and protected. Along the way, the Ranger, MFTF team and the CEO of the national Park will share insights into the practical work undertaken by partners to care for the landscape, work with local communities and land managers, and respond to environmental challenges such as wildfire and climate change.

Walk information - The nature of the walk is moderately strenuous over undulating terrain, we aim to access the landscape out of the village and as such attendees should have a base level of fitness. 

• Approximately 1.5 hours
• Moderate difficulty - expect strenuous sections with undulating terrain, uneven surfaces and uphill and downhill gradients.
• Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather conditions.
• Bring water
