Description

This hike highlights some of SoCal's most defining geographical features--Sycamore trees, meadows, boulder formations, and rolling chaparral ridges. There are also beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, the Santa Monica Mountains, and even downtown LA on a clear day. It is a relatively easy hike, with a roundtrip distance of 7.4 miles and 926 feet elevation gain.

Joining us will be organic chemistry professors Hung V. Pham and Amber Reilly (both who teach in the Chem 14 and 30 series)! // Professor Pham is a SoCal native, growing up and staying in Fountain Valley. He double majored in Chemistry and Mathematics at UC Irvine, and graduated from UCLA with a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2015. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his friends, collecting quirky science shirts, and spending time with his UCLA Alpha Chi Sigma (co-ed chemistry fraternity) brothers. Dr. Reilly graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Chemistry, then pursued her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at UC Irvine while researching total synthesis of complex natural products. She worked briefly in patent law and is now a professor. She loves spending time with dogs whenever she can :)
