5/6: Will Rogers State Park w/ Park Williams
Sat May 6, 2023 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT
Description
Join us for a hike with unforgettable views at Will Rogers State Park. We will be following an easy 2-mile out-and-back hike along either Rivas Canyon Trail or Inspiration Point Loop depending on conditions. This trail offers lookouts over the ocean and the city at various spots, with benches along the way to stop and take in the scenery. The hike itself consists of a gentle incline culminating in around 324 feet of elevation gain.
Joining us on the hike will be Professor Park Williams (and his family), an associate professor in UCLA’s Geography Department. Professor Williams is a hydroclimatologist whose research aims to understand the causes and consequences of hydrological extremes such as drought. He’s interested in the effects of human-caused climate change on the hydrological cycle, ecological systems, and humanity through extreme events such as heat waves, wildfires, and flooding.
