Electronic Loom & Algorave

Step into an evening where code, sound, and machinery come alive. This special night of performances brings together four artists exploring the possibilities of live computation and digital craft.

The evening opens with a performance on an electronic loom, transforming weaving into a rhythmic, sonic act that blurs the line between fabric and soundscape. Following this, three artists take the stage with live-coded performances, where music and visuals are written, edited, and transformed in real time. Every keystroke becomes part of the performance — a raw, improvisational interplay between human and machine.

Lady Ludd 
Sophie Huckfield is an artist and writer. They perform and DJ as Lady Ludd. Their practice is collaborative, political and site-specific, they draw on archival and research materials to co-produce multidisciplinary artworks which move between sound, video, repurposed tools and sculpture, installations and writings.
Lady Ludd re-situates the 19th Century Luddite movement within a contemporary intersectional feminist lens, through the repurposing of an historic loom into an electronic musical instrument. Working with sonics, craft and performance, Lady Ludd seeks to question, subvert, and repurpose our tools and histories as a means to challenge current narratives around technology and progress.

Zhanlan
Zhanlan (@_orangespy_) is a multimedia artist, focused on participatory art and audience engagement through digital practice, such as live coding audio-visual performance, and interactive installation through AI and algorithmic technology. Committed to crafting immersive experiences that encourage co-creation and introspection while examining the complexities of subjectivity, objecthood, and the intricate relationships between individuals, objects, and the dynamics of power. Her work in conceptual art seeks to foster dialogue that transcends conventional artistic boundaries.

bundy
‘Bundy’ started out as a guitarist three years ago and discovered strudel by chance while creating a game for a coding bootcamp. Many of his demos are characterised by an indie, grungy sound but he has recently been incorporating more electronic and dance elements into his music, perfect for live-coding.

Eye Measure
Eye Measure is a UK-based experimental artist working primarily with algorithmic composition and creative coding. Their work has been described as "cavernous live-coded industrial ambience" ☺ and performed at places including at Cafe OTO, Corsica Studios + Iklectik. They have twice been a guest composer at EMS, Stockholm, in 2022 received funding from Arts Council England, and are a Hope Works/No Bounds resident. They live in Sheffield and co-run Pattern Club, a workshop/event series exploring algorithmic patterns.
