Penge Art Club
Penge Art Club, is a fortnightly event hosted Upstairs at Southey Taproom
We're bringing people together to play, create, and learn. You don't need to be a skilled artist to come to an art club, you just need a desire for some time and space to mess around and try new things.

Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June, 2.00 - 5.00 pm
We will be joined by the fantastic local award-winning artist, Jonny Kemp. Jonny has just completed a Masters degree in Fine Art at the City and Guilds London School of Art, and before he even started this he was featured on the 2023 series of Portrait Artist of the Year. Last year he won the Lady Hamlyn Award at the Chelsea Art Society's exhibition, so we're really lucky to have his on-hand support and guidance for the weekend.

Based on previous sessions we’ve learned that many of you would like keep going a complete your paintings with guidance, so we’re trying out a new thing with a two-part art club weekend! Jonny will run two three-hour workshops on consecutive days, so you can return afresh to continue work on your pieces the following day. For these sessions you will be using oil paints.
Jonny will take us step by step through the process of preparing and painting a portrait. He will show us how to sketch out a portrait in a grid to ensure more accuracy and how to mix paints to create portrait images in our own individual styles. You are welcome to bring photographs as inspiration so you can paint someone special to you, but we’ll also have some options to use for practice.

This will be a safe and supportive place for you to hone your skills or learn from scratch. If ever you’ve thought that you’d like to have a go, now is your chance. It's a lovely way to wile away a Sunday afternoon.
The ticket price is £60.00 - all materials required will be provided.
