Queer Oral History Workshop with Our Story Scotland
Sat 24 Aug 2024 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Adam Smith Theatre, KY1 1ET
Description
Join Pen Pals for a free, hands-on workshop with Our Story Scotland exploring queer oral histories.
OurStory Scotland collect, archive and present the lived experiences of Scotland’s LGBTQ+ community, since 2001 we have collected written episodes and oral history interviews, archived at the National Museum Scotland and the National Library of Scotland and worked with theatre groups, held story telling sessions, talked at conferences and, more recently, used podcasts to present our stories.
Enjoy an introduction to our archive, understand why we do what we do and participate in a group oral history interview - to learn how to do LGBTQ+ oral history interviews, make a donation to our archive and make a recording for future queer generations.
There will be regular breaks. Further access information about the venue to follow.
This workshop is for Pen Pals members. Pen Pals is a peer support group for queer and/or neurodivergent people in Fife. We mostly organise in and around Kirkcaldy. We're all about connection, wellbeing and creativity. You can become a member via this link.
