LGBTQ+ Suicide Workshop plus Community Meal
Thu 19 Sep 2024 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Greener Kirkcaldy, KY1 1XT
Description
Following on from Suicide Prevention Awareness week 2024, join us for a presentation and activity with Dr Hazel Marzetti, a suicide researcher at University of Edinburgh, working on LGBTQ+ suicide, suicide prevention and suicide bereavement. We'll be talking about suicide, and creatively responding to the topic through a hands-on activity.
After a short break we'll come together for a vegetarian/vegan community meal to offer a space to connect and decompress after the workshop. If you're a pen pals member, you're welcome to join just for the meal if you'd prefer.
6-7pm - presentation and activity with Dr Hazel Marzetti - this is open to everyone!
7.30-9pm - community meal.
We will be talking about suicide. We appreciate that this is a topic that has touched many of our lives in different ways, and we will be working to create a space where we can care for each other and talk about suicide in all its complexity. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch at hello@penpals.site
The Greener Kirkcaldy events space is wheelchair accessible via a ramp at the front door, and has gender neutral bathrooms. The training kitchen is also wheelchair accessible, with one adjustable height workstation.
Although the presentation and activity is open to everyone with a connection to LGBTQ+ suicide, the community meal is for Pen Pals members. Pen Pals is a peer support group for queer and/or neurodivergent people in Fife. We mostly organise in and around Kirkcaldy. We're all about connection, wellbeing and creativity. Becoming a member is easy! You can become a member via this link.
