Body Handling for Rope Bondage

A Two-Day Immersive Workshop

In every show, live session, or public rope demonstration I’ve held in Japan, one piece of feedback stands out—how much Western rope practitioners incorporate body handling, physical contact, and touch into their sessions. This tactile engagement creates an erotic, graceful dance that captivates audiences and participants alike.

Physical contact in rope bondage is not just an added element—it’s central to the experience, especially in Western practice. It serves as one of the most powerful tools for communication between the rigger and their partner. From the early moments when the bottom is still free, to the application of the first rope, through to suspension, and finally back to the floor for untying, body handling is essential. Being moved with care and control, as if weightless, allows the bottom to fully surrender, feel the rigger's intentions, and enjoy an extraordinary experience.

However, moving a bound body—whether on the floor or in suspension—requires more than just strength. It can be challenging to execute smoothly, and without proper technique, it can result in discomfort or awkward movements that disrupt the flow. This becomes even more complex when the bottom is taller or heavier than the rigger, or when the rigger isn’t particularly strong. The real skill lies in using finesse, leverage, and pivot points rather than relying on brute force.

This two-day, hands-on workshop is designed to give you the knowledge and practical skills to master the art of moving a bound body with grace, control, and effortlessness. Through a series of focused drills and exercises, you’ll learn how to move yourself—and your partner—with elegance, making your body handling a fluid, expressive part of the bondage experience.

Who this workshop is for

This workshop is suitable for all levels, the focus being on handling and not rope technicals.

However a basic knowledge and practice of the basic harnesses of the style is required therefore this workshop is open to those who have attended at least a n1 with us or with one of my certified educators (Soptik, Sansei & Kurogami for Level 1, Eric Shore for Level 0), in doubt please contact us.

For bottoms

Bottoms must feel at ease in a gote and be able to detect symptoms of circulation loss and nerve issues.

What to bring

Comfortable clothing for moving on the floor is strongly suggested.

Please bring a small towel as the activity will require a lot of physical movement and therefore some sweating.

Photos and videos

Photos may be taken during exercise demos, unless otherwise specified by the teachers.

Please respect the privacy and consent of all participants when taking photographs inside the studio.

Video and audio recording during teaching and demonstrations are not permitted unless explicitly authorised by the teachers.

The style

The workshop follows the teaching approach of Riccardo Sergnese, Wildties, ichi-ban deshi of Naka Akira, and the technical principles developed within Kinbaku LuXuria.

Kinbaku LuXuria comes from the study of Naka Ryu and from a technical reworking designed to make the style suitable for European culture, bodies and safety needs.

It is an essential, intense and communicative style in which technical construction is inseparable from relationship, aesthetics, tension, presence and intention.

Association membership

Peony Studio activities are reserved for members of UR Expression APS.

If you are not already a member, you can purchase the workshop ticket first and complete your membership afterwards.

Membership must be completed at least 48 hours before the beginning of the workshop.

The membership procedure includes:

• completing the association membership form;
• payment of the €15 membership fee per person.

Membership will be valid from the first day of the workshop until 31 December 2027.

Membership does not renew automatically and there is no obligation to renew it.

New members will also receive a €10 voucher for the purchase of a set of at least 4 ropes.

By purchasing the ticket, you undertake to complete the membership procedure within the required deadline.

If membership is not completed at least 48 hours before the event, participation will not be possible.
