The People's Bookshop is delighted to welcome Jamie Driscoll to Durham for the launch of his new book (co-authored with the Common Sense Policy Group), Act Now: A vision for a better future and a new social contract.
Both an inspiring manifesto and a blueprint, they outline clear policies for welfare, health and social care, education, housing, and more. Arguing for a rolling forwards of the state, they call for a new era of active citizenship and economic democracy, grounded in robust and resilient institutions.
In Jamie's words, 'There is a huge appetite for pragmatic transformative policies that reduce inequality and treat people with respect. We are building a movement and we’re staying right here.'
Come join us, be inspired, take a first step! Together we can make a better future a reality.
Once again, we are fortunate that Northern Stores and Deli in the Prince Bishops retail complex has offered us the use of their space for the event. Doors open at 6.30pm, the event starts at 7, and we will wrap up by 9pm.
Snacks and drinks will be available from the Deli and tickets are £5 that can be applied to the purchase price of the book on the night.
