Suitability & Referral for Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy

Thu 6 Aug 2026 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM AEST Online, Zoom

A clinical webinar for GPs and mental health clinicians | Presented by The Psychedelic Consultancy

Many of your patients with chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD or depression may now be eligible for psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) under Australia's TGA Authorised Prescriber scheme. This webinar gives you the clinical knowledge and practical tools to assess suitability, navigate referral pathways, and support patients through the process.

We cover the evidence base for MDMA and psilocybin-assisted therapy, including an honest account of limitations and the current international regulatory landscape, how Australia's Authorised Prescriber scheme works, and a practical screening framework for identifying suitable candidates. We work through real case examples covering appropriate, borderline, and unsuitable referrals, and finish with an overview of training pathways for clinicians wanting to work within PAT teams, and what a good referral looks like in practice.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Describe the current evidence for PAT in treatment-resistant depression and PTSD, including its limitations
  • Explain Australia's Authorised Prescriber scheme and how patients currently access treatment
  • Apply appropriate inclusion and exclusion criteria when considering a referral
  • Navigate referral pathways to existing Authorised Prescribers and multidisciplinary services
  • Identify training pathways for clinicians wishing to work as PAT therapists
