Pete is delighted to launch his popular 2026 school spring half term and summer holiday junior cricket coaching camps to be held at Rainton Cricket Club, Carr Lane, Rainton, Thirsk YO7 3PS. Rainton is between Thirsk and Ripon in North Yorkshire. There will be fun drills, games, nets and matches. Each day will run from 10am until 3pm. All coaches are qualified and DBS checked.

The camps will be held on:

 Tues/Weds 26/27 May

Tues/Weds 14/15 July

Tues/Weds/Thurs  21/22/23 July

Tues/Weds/Thurs 28/29/30 July

Weds/Thurs 12/13 August

Tues/Weds 25/26 August

All of the camps will cater for both soft and hard ball players and be for age 6 to age 14. The cost is £79 to attend all three days of one camp. A booking fee of £3 will apply. The cost to book both days of a two day camp is £54 plus a £2 booking fee. Individual days can be booked on any of the camps at a cost of £28 plus a booking fee of £1.

There are also a limited number of early drop off slots for his spring and summer camps. There will be a maximum of 8 places available each day at £8 plus a £1 booking fee. Children can then be dropped off from 9am (no earlier please) instead of the main camp start time of 10am. These places can be booked online only as below.

If you have any questions all please feel free to drop Pete an e-mail at petekeighleycricketcoaching@gmail.com  or call him on 07732 952409. Please also read carefully the notes below.

1. To access Rainton Cricket Club, when you travel along Carr Lane carry straight on to the unmade lane when the tarmac part of the road ends. Please drive slowly max 10 mph along this lane.

Please do not exceed 10mph when driving along Carr Lane to access the cricket ground. Residents have commented that on occasion vehicles arriving at Pete’s cricket camps are driving much faster than the residents are comfortable with on such a narrow lane, which also does not have the best surface for stopping. Pete gets great co-operation from the village community and would not want this to disappear so please adhere to this – arriving a few seconds later is not a problem.

2. Whilst the postcode of YO7 3PS will get you near to the ground, the what3words apps is much more accurate using best.rumbles.dumplings - when you navigate to this point via Google Maps you will see that it states that you need to walk from an unmade part of Carr Lane but you don't! Just stay in the car and turn right at that point along a further stretch of unmade track and you will see the cricket ground in front of you.

It may help to take a look at the satellite view of Google Maps before you set off as the cricket ground is then very easy to see.

3. Each group will have a coach that is both ECB qualified and DBS checked.

4. Pete has lots of equipment for use with a soft ball. So don't worry if your child does not have any equipment of their own but if they do they can of course bring it along. Children wishing to bat in hard ball nets/matches must have their own bat and protective equipment. Some children wear whites, some don't. Your child can wear whatever they are comfortable in.

5. Please do not drop your child off and leave them to register by themselves and please do not ask them to come directly to your car at the end of the day.

6. Please apply sun cream to your child as required prior to leaving home and consider the need for a hat/cap for your child. Pete always reminds the attendees at lunchtime for them to apply their own additional sun cream if their parents/guardians have sent them with sun cream and have asked them to do so.

7. Lunch snacks and a drink in a refillable bottle will be needed. We regularly ask children during the day if they need us to refill their water bottles. Many show us their water bottle with maybe a cm or two of water in and say they are ok! We persuade them to let us refill their bottle anyway!

8. In the event of inclement weather for some or all of a day, the camp will always still go ahead. There will be a range of quizzes ready, indoor cricket related games and other activities for inside the pavilion until we are able to get outside again. We also have Rainton Village Hall available for at least part of most days so this is also generally an option in the event of inclement weather.

9. If the person who is picking your child up at the end of the day changes from that advised to Pete on that morning, this must be communicated to Pete prior to the end of the day.

10. Pick up will be from the cricket field unless advised otherwise. Please check your e mail/whatsapp/texts before you leave home in case pick up has been changed to the tarmac area of Carr Lane. This may happen in the event of the cricket field being wet in order to avoid damage from multiple vehicles arriving/leaving.

11. Cancellation policy - 7 days or more notice from the first day of the camp booking - full refund or rollover to another available/future camp at customer's choice. Less than 7 days - at Pete's discretion. Pete will exercise this discretion and allow a refund/rollover to another camp if Pete is able to fill the camp in any case after the cancellation.
