If you think that a musical telling of the creation of the world would be big and dramatic…you’d be right! Joseph Haydn decided to write The Creation after hearing the epic oratorios of George Handel during visits to England. Inspired to try his hand at writing something similarly epic in scope, he tackled the creation of the world out of the primordial chaos. To do justice to this magnificent work, the Peterborough Singers will be teaming up with the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra. Haydn’s Creation will be performed both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. On this Mother’s Day weekend, why not treat your mother or someone else you love to Haydn’s musical masterpiece?
