Ready to feel more confident, capable, and empowered in your own space? If you’re tired of relying on others for simple fixes, this private hands-on workshop (for 2 adults only) is designed to help you take control, build practical skills, and gain the confidence to get things done yourself.

In this 3-hour session, you and your guest will design and build your own wall-mounted coat rack while learning how to safely use essential hand and power tools. Perfect for beginners and improvers alike, this private workshop offers step-by-step guidance in a supportive, inclusive, and non-judgemental environment — helping you develop independence, self-reliance, and real-world DIY skills.

You’ll leave not only with a finished coat rack to take home, but also with the confidence and knowledge to tackle future projects with ease.

We are a Shepherds Bush–based charity and social enterprise committed to sustainability, skills development, and social empowerment. We divert furniture from landfill through upcycling while providing training and opportunities for local adults, including those facing barriers to employment, education, or connection.

Since 2009, we’ve been creating lasting, measurable change through work experience, traineeships, and business incubation. Every workshop booking directly supports our programmes — empowering individuals, building confidence, improving employability, and reducing waste in our community.

This workshop is open to all adults and especially welcoming to women, led by a mostly female team who understand how empowering it is to gain confidence with tools.

What You’ll Learn

How to create a simple wall-mounted project

How to safely and confidently use:

• Clamps/Vices
• Power sanders
• Hand saws
• Drills
• Screwdrivers
• When and how to use screws, hooks, rawl plugs, wall fixings and more
• Finishing techniques: sanding, painting, and/or varnishing
