More Improvised Singing! (May 2024)

A course with Phil Lunn

In this eight-week course, we’ll be taking an in-depth look at performing improvised songs. We’ll cover:

• Finding the focus, or hook, of a song
• Starting songs and sectional verses
  
• Moving from scene to song
• Solos
• Performing songs as a group—sharing lyrics, harmonies and movement
• Song structures and rhyming patterns
• Singing in character

There'll be a maximum of 14 people, so there'll be plenty performance time for everyone. There will be a performance at the end of the course, at the lovely Canal Café Theatre in Little Venice, Paddington. The course is aimed at people who have some experience in improvised singing already. Please don’t book if you’ve not done musical improvisation before; instead you’ll probably find my Hoopla course more enjoyable (or of course, classes run by others in London). If your experience is such that I don’t think this the course for you, then I will let you know and recommend courses for you. Feel free to contact me in advance before booking.
